What is Cannabis?
Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants that have been cultivated for their medicinal uses dating back thousands of years. Cannabis contains over 100 different active compounds, called cannabinoids, which have different effects on the body.
Cannabis produces compounds called cannabinoids. The most common cannabinoids, CBD and THC work with receptors that release neurotransmitters and can help improve mood pain appetite, anxiety, insomnia, seizures, spasticity, and much more.
The body has two types of receptors, CB1 & CB2. CB1 receptors are most commonly found in the brain and central nervous system. CB2 receptors are most commonly found in our immune system. These receptors play an important regulatory role in many physiological processes like our mood, our energy level, our intestinal function, immune responses, blood pressure, bone density, metabolism, how we experience pain, hunger, our response to stress, and much more.
